The harbor seal is one of the most well-known seal species in Europe. It often lives in large groups on sandbanks, where it rests or suns itself. Harbor seals are excellent divers and can stay underwater for long periods to hunt for fish.

The body is streamlined and covered with dense fur. The color varies from gray to brown with dark spots. Harbor seals have large round eyes, short whiskers, and a relatively short snout.
Orcas and large sharks
Harmless to humans and not toxic.
Harbor seals rely heavily on their sensitive whiskers, which can detect the slightest water movements. This helps them find their prey even in murky water.
