Stay calm

Contact with a jellyfish can be painful, but is harmless in many cases. It is important to remain calm and not rub the affected area, as this can activate more stinging cells.

First aid in water and on land

Slowly leave the water and gently rinse the affected area with seawater. Freshwater should be avoided, as it can additionally trigger the stinging cells. Visible tentacle remnants can be carefully removed, for example with tweezers.

Observation and medical help

In most cases, the discomfort subsides after a while. However, in case of severe pain, allergic reactions, or breathing problems, medical help should be sought immediately.
