Beware of vague environmental promises
Terms like „environmentally friendly“ or „ocean-friendly“ are often not clearly defined. If concrete explanations or evidence are missing, it might be greenwashing.
Check materials and transparency
Genuine sustainable diving equipment openly states its materials, such as recycled plastics, natural rubber, or bio-based fabrics, and explains their environmental benefits. Transparent information about production is a good sign.
Pay attention to certifications and durability
Independent certifications as well as durable, repairable products indicate true sustainability. Brands that offer repair services and focus on quality are usually more credible than those with mere advertising promises.
