The Birdsnest coral is a brooding coral, which means the babies grow up within the mother colony and practically end up right at the doorstep, providing a small genetic surprise package for every corner of the reef.
The Birdsnest coral looks like a delicate underwater bird's nest, with fine, pointed branches that artfully diverge. Thanks to its symbiosis with tiny zooxanthellae and its adaptation to currents and light, it shimmers in all colors from soft pink to warm brown to cool blue: a real eye-catcher for divers!

The Birdsnest coral loves shallow, well-circulated water. It appears particularly colorful in bright light and clear water conditions, making it ideal for divers who have good visibility.
At night, it’s worth taking a look: Then the polyps extend their tentacles, and the colony transforms into a lively, shimmering net.
