Eastern Pacific dolphins are known for their spectacular leaps. During these leaps, they spin multiple times around their own axis in the air. They usually live in large groups and are very social animals.

The body is slender with a long, narrow snout. The coloration is usually gray with a lighter underside. The dorsal fin is relatively small and crescent-shaped.
