The Great White Shark is the largest predatory shark in the world. Its name „carcharias“ comes from Greek and means „with sharp teeth“. It became world-famous through the movie „Jaws“.

The Great White Shark has a powerful, torpedo-shaped body with a large, crescent-shaped tail fin. The upper side is gray to gray-brown, the belly is white. This countershading camouflages it in the water. It has large black eyes and broad, triangular, serrated teeth.
Orcas and very large conspecifics
Can be dangerous to humans, but is not poisonous.
Great White Sharks are curious and investigate unknown objects with a test bite. They can attack seals at high speed from below. Females are usually larger than males.
