The Blue Shark is very slender and one of the fastest pelagic sharks. It covers large migratory distances. Its long pectoral fins are typical for the species.

Blue sharks often follow food sources such as schools of fish. They are curious and sometimes approach boats. They are particularly often caught as bycatch in commercial fishing.
