Appearance

The ocean sunfish has a very short body without a true tail fin. Instead, it has a broad, rounded fin structure at the rear of its body. Its skin is thick, rough, and usually gray to silvery in color. Its dorsal and anal fins are tall and help it move slowly through the water.
