Already at the surface, the landscape of this dive site stands out remarkably: The rocks of Wied il-Mielah form a high, quite photogenic rock arch above the water's surface.
This area is just as spectacular underwater – two caves and a tunnel can be explored within a 30 m long reef.
At 18 m, an exciting tunnel opens up between the reef and the steep rock wall, leading a bit deeper into a small cave with an air chamber.
This area will also provide a very picturesque exploration tour for beginners.
Those who want to venture deeper can follow the rock wall eastward down to 50 m.
The rocks are covered with sponges, which are home to many small marine life forms and, when illuminated with a light, shine in vibrant colors.
Amberjack, Mola Molas, tuna, Mediterranean cardinalfish, dentex and even octopuses are not rare inhabitants of this area.
If you occasionally glance into the open water, you will also gladly see huge schools of barracuda.
