Special Features

The darkness of the caves of Punta Galera offers the most challenging yet impressive dives around Ustica. A buoy marks the entry to this dive site and leads directly to a depth of 40 m.

Two meters high and six meters wide reveals the opening through which one can dive into the Cave of the Shrimps. And daring to do so is definitely worth it.

The Cave measures almost 10 m in height and extends about 30 m in width and leads further into several narrow passages that can also be dived.

Following the left wall next to the entrance, one encounters a rock formation teeming with life. Thousands upon thousands of Parapandali, the typical shrimps of this region, stand in attendance.

The occasional nudibranch also likes to sneak among the crowd.

The Parapandali are the favorite food of the Eels, so many of them linger in the shadows waiting for the small crustaceans.
