From the dive center (Dive2gether) in Plakias, one drives along the coast north to a picturesque beach with a small tavern (Taverna Delfini).
From there, one can comfortably enter the water over sand, until suddenly a vast seagrass meadow (Posidonia oceanica) unfolds beneath you.
Among the grasses, there is an abundance of fish, seahorses, crabs, starfish, and sponges; occasionally, even lionfish make an appearance. At the end of the seagrass meadow, a rocky wall extends down to approximately 25 m depth.
In 2016, this dive site became the “Mare-Mundi Field Station.” Since then, the dive center and the bay have served as a center for marine research and education. Sport divers or snorkelers can learn about the wonders of the underwater world and its need for protection.
The in-house marine biologists are always available to share their knowledge. They do this through free lectures twice a week and with marine biological research dives, in which anyone can participate.
